Nail polish storage

Opbevaring af neglelak

Have you thought about how you store your nail polish? Proper nail polish storage is a must if you want to extend its lifespan, maintain its full effect, and prevent it from hardening. In this post, we'll tell you how to best store nail polish and what you should be aware of.

How to store nail polish correctly

We completely understand if you want to display your collection of Nail4You gel polish or other nail polishes. It would indeed look super nice with a collection of your favorite colors on an acrylic shelf, hanging on the wall by a makeup table. But before you carry out this idea, you should consider the consequences it could have – and we can already tell you that they are not positive.

Regular Nail Polish

Regular nail polish benefits from being stored in a dark and cool place. The refrigerator is perfect, you might think. But no, you absolutely must not put your beloved nail polishes in the side shelf of the refrigerator. The reason for this is that condensation can form, which can cause moisture and air bubbles in the polish.

In the worst case, it affects the polish's ability to cure evenly, which would be such a shame when you have the most beautiful colors.

Instead, you should aim for a dry and cool room in the house. Place the nail polishes in a sealed container and put it, for example, in a cupboard so they are in the dark.

Gel Products

Gel polish, and UV products in general, on the other hand, benefit from being stored in a room at room temperature without too many fluctuations. If gel is stored at the wrong temperature, the polish can get a thicker consistency, which is difficult to work with, and in the worst case, you may have to discard your gel. If you are the lucky owner of a walk-in closet, it is obvious to store your UV products here. Otherwise, the bedroom or living room is also a good bet, as the temperature here is stable.

You should generally avoid heat and moisture. This means the bathroom is also not optimal, as the humidity here is often very high.

Sunlight is a no-go for UV products

You must under no circumstances expose your UV nail products to sunlight. If your gel polish is stored in sunlight for just a few seconds, it will be destroyed and will then be unusable. You should also never do nails outside, even if it can seem tempting on a sunny summer day. Also, never do nails near windows where sunlight can penetrate.

When the polish is exposed to sunlight, it can lead to color changes, and in the worst case, you risk your gel products hardening, making them unusable.

Nail Polish Organizer

Once you've found the ideal location for your nail products, you might have thought about what they can be stored in. If you want to organize them in a practical and stylish way, you can advantageously use a storage box with multiple compartments and sections. Sort your products however you like - for example, by color, most used, or by season. In addition to gels and nail polishes, there is room for brushes, cleansers, files, and whatever else you use to create beautiful, eye-catching nails.

FAQ

Should nail polish be stored in the refrigerator?

No, it is not recommended to store nail polish in the refrigerator. Condensation can occur, which can cause air bubbles and moisture, reducing the polish's ability to be applied in an even layer.
